The Route

The route starts under the shadow of the Mole Antonelliana in the centre of Turin. The tour is 6km long and flat and predominantly on cycle paths and pedestrianised areas free from cars, meaning this is suitable for cyclists of all ages and abilities. About Us

Partisan Bike Tour is led by Jack Ruane, a Londoner resident in Turin and qualified Cycle Tour Guide by the Piedmont Regional Government. Jack is passionate about cycling and when not doing tours he can be found cycling in the Torinese hills or Piemontese Alps. The idea for the tour came from the desire to bring to life the forgotten stories of so many courageous men and women who fought fascism and won. The tour brings together Jack’s passions for cycling and radical history into an enjoyable and inspiring journey into a side of Turin not often shown on tours.

The tour will explore macro themes like Italian fascism and repression, the background political motivations of the Italian partisans, the role of women in the movement, how they organised for clandestine guerrilla warfare, the role of strikes and factory organisation, and much, much more. We will also hear the personal stories of ordinary men and women whose heroic acts are interwoven into our journey. Do you want to hear about the 18 year old waiter who was the first Torinese to kill a Nazi soldier? What about the mother and factory organiser who was rescued from the firing squad just as the insurrection began?
Then please join us on the next tour!
